Elementally's accessibility policy
Why is accessibility important?
It is important to ensure that websites are accessible to all users, including those with a disability or limited by the technology they are using. Although it is second nature to many Internet users to navigate using a mouse, there are a large number of users who need to use a keyboard or screen reader with which to navigate.
It is also important to consider the content of a website - for example, can it be accessed even if it can't be either seen or heard? For every image, video and audio file on a web site, you should bear in mind this question: can this information be represented with a text alternative? This applies to any visual aspect of a website that can be represented in another way, because if a lot of your content is represented graphically it will make it less accessible to blind users and to those who cannot view images in their web browser. Users with a dial-up connection will also be affected due to the amount of time it would take to download a web page with lots of images.
Elementally is committed to creating websites that are accessible to all users. We don't display icons on every page of our site to show that it passes a particular standard but we do thoroughly check it ourselves. We endeavour to conform to the W3C Web Accessibility Initiative and refer to this throughout the creation of new or updated content.
Our web pages are also checked to ensure that they validate to HTML 4.01 and CSS.
