About Elementally:
Many of you want the whole website design, creation & maintenance process kept as simple and as easy to understand as possible - we do this and look after as much of your website as you want us to - from registering the domain, acting as your webmaster for rogue emails, to taking your ideas, copy, and information and creating a website that will work for you. We'll sort out the links, the search engines, and regular updates - everything taken care of.
The first step is to consider just what you want your website to do for you.
Here is a list of what to consider when considering your own website in pdf format (for which you need Adobe Reader - let us know if you have a problem reading this) which will be helpful no matter who does your website.
Getting to know your business, how it works, who your customers are and what they want from you - all important things that we need a good understanding of. We've put together notes on some of the aspects we cover when we take care of you here.
Then working with any existing designs, logo, images, and literature to create a website that will work for you. Or we can work with your own graphic designer, or bring in our own graphic design partner, if necessary. Should you want your website to be more interactive, perhaps database driven, or with an online survey, or more - our technical partners get involved.
Our in-house expertise never stops evolving, with the latest constant developments in search engine optimisation, accessibility, and usability - time is spent understanding and studying all elements of web design so that you get a website that works for you.
Barbara Saul is Elementally's driving force; determined to look after customers more thoroughly than they expect and to make websites work hard for everyone. She is a lifetime member of Ecademy and you can find out more about her here. As a member of the British Computer Society, she and Elementally abide by the codes of conduct and practice this professional body requires. Barbara is also the Internet Marketing expert and something of a Usability and Search Engine Optimisation geek; she's occasionally allowed to design the odd website!
Darren Hawkins takes care of most of our web design, has become our accessibilty and CSS expert and has developed the website for Web Design Mentors and for CountyNetworking, to name but a couple. We're incredibly proud that Darren met the standards required to join the Guild of Accessible Web Designers - and they don't let anyone join unless they do know what they're doing.
We're working with Virtual Assistant Shelley Abela, developing this relationship to help us with our admin and many other tasks - it's an interesting experience, getting used to being assisted virtually, and we will write about this with the intention of being useful to other small businesses who, like us before, don't quite "get" how a VA can work well.
And Pip D-W has also joined our team, taking care of clients' visitor stats reporting and links to their websites. She'll also be brushing up her graphics skills and take over (and indeed expand) that side of things in 2007.
The team then extends to provide any technical work required for data-driven websites; copy editing and writing, as well as proofreading; and we have our own usability team created from a wide range of people - all there to make ensure your website works for you.
As we build the team further, our philosophy of keeping it simple and easy for your customers to find what they want on your website will remain the primary focus. We constantly review the latest technologies, and keep in touch with what people using the Internet want, making the two work together wherever possible.
